CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION IN THE NEW NORMAL

The recent coronavirus outbreak has birthed in most organizations an entirely revised workplace culture. In most cases, work processes have been reviewed and pivoted where dimmed necessary to establish a stronger and more sustainable workplace.

Amidst this significant disruption, teams are gradually embracing better ways of communication as a way to strengthen and support change.

Hence, embracing creativity has become today’s reality, and these have brought about innovative ways of working effectively. As you all know that one of our strongest core values is innovation. Innovation is embedded in creativity. These two are separatable.

According to my understanding innovation is an act of altering something from its usual self to a better way of application.

According to the dictionary, innovation is an act of, change, alteration, revolution, upheaval, transformation, and metamorphosis of things into another. While at the other hand creativity is an act of using your imagination or original ideas to create something; inventiveness.

However, it’s easy to get stuck in the “this is how we’ve always done it” mindset, but creativity is one key that can help teams discover their unique potential, especially in times like this.

HOW DO CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION BECOME OUR NEW NORMAL

  • Change our mindset.
  • Kill the fear of accepting innovation
  • Search for people with creative minds in the organization. People that ideas come to them easily.
  • Give room for creativity, and the ability for them to explore.
  • Willingness to accept innovation
  • Innovation comes with some expense; we must have an open mind to it.
  • We must be willing to prove a guide for people to accept the new normal
  • We must not be layback when it comes to birthing and implementing new ideas.

So, what are you waiting for? Now is an opportune time to open the door for innovations and Creativity.  A wise man once said that Ideas rule the world. by Dr. Sam Adeyemi.
